Poké-tourism, radio, marts, centers, balls, food... The list goes on and on. It's a massive industry, and no one knows that better than the League. The Pokéleague grows more and more every day, feeding on the love and obsession over these mysterious creatures which inhabit the lands. The region of Hoseki had been hit by a massive economic downturn which had lead to increased poverty, sickness and crime throughout. It's leaders had decided to allow the Pokéleague use of the land for cheap to enhance their business and try and bring in a greater flow of money to the impoverished land. It worked. Soon, the family pet was trained to be a weapon. Pokémon which had once in Hoseki been seen as only slightly above animals were advertised as best friends and lifelong companions. Those that mightn't have cared for them now were begging to have one, and jobs were created left right and center to cater for it. Many young adults which had once been criminals now had a way to channel themselves through training, and gyms were created for the region. New people came from around the globe to test the skills of the newly 'awakened' land. All of Hoseki's problems seemed to disappear... Yet, still there remained those left behind. In the dust cloud of the rush towards the wonders of the Pokéindustry were the people of the old culture, and those who were not able to adapt. Not everyone is meant to be a trainer, and not everyone connects so steadfast with their battling 'partner'. Those who didn't fit in with the craze were seen as both outcasts and failures. The Pokéleague promised money, prosperity and happiness for everyone... But what about the old tailor who, despite hours of labour every day, became overshadowed by that big half-red half-white brand name? What about the kid who's Pokémon doesn't like him, and he loses more in battling than he makes, despite having to help feed his family? What happened to them when the Pokéleague overtakes Hoseki and makes them seem and feel totally inadequate? They join Team Lucre, a new emerging organization determined to take what was promised them by force if they have to. Pokémon do not matter to Team Lucre, they are but pawns to achieve their aim, and these grunts don't fight fair. Individually they may be weak, but together they are a force to be reckoned with. They are an army of civilians who have been tossed aside, and standing up together they aren't going to let anyone else push them away. Be prepared for trouble.... (Written by Alora) [/style] |
